MARBLED POTTERY

This workshop introduces participants to the art of marbling with clay. Working with tinted beige clay and colored clays, you’ll learn how to combine and throw them on the wheel to create beautiful swirling patterns.

This class is designed for hobby potters. To get the most out of it, we recommend having taken a couple of wheel-throwing classes beforehand. Our focus will be both on the technical side of wheel work and the artistic possibilities of colored clay marbling.

Goals & Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

• Prepare and wedge different colored clays for marbling.

• Strengthen your wheel-throwing skills (centering, pulling, shaping).

• Explore how clay movement on the wheel creates unique patterns.

• Shape small forms such as cups, bowls, or cylinders.

• Prepare your pieces for firing and understand finishing options.

Experience level: Participants should already know how to center small objects on the wheel.

Materials: All materials are included. You can take home up to three glazed and fired creations. Additional pieces can be kept for a small extra fee.
